Currently, the travel industry is on pause while the world works collectively to fight the spread of COVID-19.  Before coronavirus hit, the stats show that in 2017, 830 million wellness trips were made. By 2020, the assumption is this will have surpassed the 1 billion mark. Today, health-conscious travellers are expecting everything from full-blown retreats to integrated wellness solutions.   Businesses importantly are eager to leverage that momentum.

However, once the market begins to recover, with the right measures in place, wellness travel has the potential to thrive as the post-COVID consumer prioritises their health, perhaps more so than ever before. Adapting online to deliver digital content and to keep customers engaged, fully connected and ready for future loyalty is what the current focus is right now.

In 2019, saw the launch of fitness boutiques, I bring your attention to:  Tabula Rasa – def:/ “the theory that individuals are born without built-in mental content and that therefore all knowledge comes from experience or perception.

As a newly launched travel brand, how are you navigating the COVID-19 challenge?

Of course it’s been hugely challenging, travel restrictions and social distancing have meant that we have had to reschedule the first half of our season.

In some ways it will be a great accelerator for things we had planned on doing in the future. I think that so many people have found lockdown challenging both emotionally and physically, so there will be a huge attraction to fitness, health and regaining a sense of energy once it’s over.

People are eager to get healthy and feel amazing again,  already receiving a lot of early interest in the 2021 season. Until then Tabula Rasa are creating ways in which they can support people at home, get well, keep well and re-focus.

They are committed to delivering retreats as soon as they are able to, and have increased the planning and bookings for the 2021 season, and hopefully sooner, most definitely the last quarter of 2020.

Some of our key highlights include a unique Safari retreat and Lost city experience staying at the Palace in South Africa through to remote islands in the Maldives kUDADOO being a key favourite and the Andaz Mayokoba in Mexico through to the Alila properties in Bali have a look at the website for some of our top retreats www.tabularasaretreats.com   .

Each journey will be built with unique touch points across fitness, nutrition, transportation and bespoke service. A sample multi-day itinerary may include private access to a personalised training session with a specialist, an exploration of ultra-seasonal cooking with a foraging experience hosted by a renowned local chef or a transformative mountaintop meditation at sunrise or a starry sky night in the middle of a private safari reserve.
